The Metropole Hotel offers Groups planning a Spring, Summer or Autumn budget holiday in 2009 the opportunity to enjoy membership of a private rocky beach club just a few minutes walk from the Hotel. This can be enjoyed whether the group is resident on Bed and Breakfast or Half Board.
The Exiles Club is an established sports club most famous for its water polo team and is located in Sliema on the rocky beach just beneath 'It Torri'; a Tower which is a national landmark situated on the Sliema promenade. The Exiles' top water polo team will in 2009 be playing in the National Second Division League.
The club house itself is a popular base for local members that are of every age and do not necessarily belong just for water polo. In effect the premises are not grand but converted from a beach post to suit circumstances. They comprise changing and showering facilities, a club room, a casual but excellent restaurant and a bar serving drinks and snacks. The concrete platform that the club is constructed on stretches along the sea and is equipped with deck chairs and loungers and these as well as sun umbrellas are available for members. The quality of the sea water here is near to perfect and the views across the bay are stunning.
The membership being provided for hotel guests allows them to use the premises at all times other then on Sundays and other days when there are mid week waterpolo matches.
